You are not holy because you obeyed laws-Samuel Shobanke
The purpose of the law: Its seems many are yet to
understand why God introduced the law in the old
testament.
This is why many are still living the old testament life in this
new testament days.
The law was not made to make anyone perfect. No it wasn't! Read Romans 3:20.
Also, Hebrews 10:1 says, "(NET) For the law possesses a
shadow of the good things to come but not the reality itself,
and is therefore completely unable, by the same sacrifices
offered continually, year after year, to perfect those who
come to worship".
Vs 4 says, "(ISV) for it is impossible for the blood of bulls
and goats to take away sins."
You know many times, I see people thinking they are
righteous and perfect by keeping and obeying the laws of
God.
That's not accurate with the new testament.
If that is so then the coming Jesus Christ was meaningless.
Never for once think you are right with God because you are
observing Gods laws!
The purpose of the law was to drive us to faith.
The law was to show us that no matter how much we try,
we can't be perfect by our own efforts.
The purpose of the law was to show everybody as sinners.
That we have come short of the glory of God through Adams
transgression.
When there is no law, that is when there is no sin.
Then, when there is the law, there must be sin.
Law was made to reveal sin and not to overcome sin.
The strength of sin is found in the law (1 Cor 15:6).
Rom 5:20 says, "Moreover the law entered, that the offence
might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did abound
much more".
Gal 3:24-25 says, " But before faith came, we were kept
under the law, shut up unto the faith which should
afterwards be revealed.
[24] Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us
unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[25] But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a
schoolmaster.
The law was given to make us see why we need Gods help
by sending Jesus.
Jesus is and will be the only one to obey and fulfill the law.
In fact, the law was created so that Jesus Christ could fulfil
it. You are not meant to fulfil the law although the law is
good for you!
Stop trying to fulfil the law because you want to be right
with God! It has been fulfilled in Christ. This righteousness
of the law has been fulfilled in us by believing in the finished
work of Christ.
Christ is the end ( not the beginning) of the law to them that
believeth according to Romans 10:4.
The death and resurrection of Christ was not Gods AFTER
THOUGHT. No! It was already well planned when God
introduced the law. Christ Jesus was the purpose of the
law.
Therefore, we are to trust and put faith in what Christ has
done.
This is why you can't please God by keeping the laws.
As a matter of fact, you cannot keep the whole law. The law
is deeper and wider than the ten commandments. This
same law has concluded everyone as sinners so why do
you think you can still be perfect and approved of God by it?
Read Gal 3:21-22.
You can only be righteous and please God by putting FAITH
in Jesus Christ.
Get it straight!
There are two kinds of righteousness. There is a
righteousness of the law and there is a righteousness which
is of faith through grace according to Romans 10:1-9, Gal
3:9.
The righteousness of the law is the law of works.
The righteousness which is of faith is the law of faith
according to Romans 3:27.
However, the righteousness that comes by keeping the laws
has been done away with.
The accepted righteousness in this new testament times is
the righteousness that comes by faith ( Gal 2:16).
Gal 3:10 says, "For as many as are of the works of the law
are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one
that continueth not in all things which are written in the
book of the law to do them.
[11] But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of
God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Praise
God.
So, whats my point? Am I saying we should forget the law?
Nay! The law is very good, holy and just according to Rom
7:12.
All am saying is that we shouldn't abuse the law!
1 Tim 1:8 says, "We are conscious that the law is good, if a
man makes a right use of it, With the knowledge that the
law is made, not for the upright ( righteous by faith) man,
but for those who have no respect for law and order, for evil
men and sinners, for the unholy and those who have no
religion, for those who put their fathers or mothers to death,
for takers of life, For those who go after loose women, for
those with unnatural desires, for those who take men
prisoners, who make false statements and false oaths, and
those who do any other things against the right teaching".
Paul said, "Do we then nullify the law through faith?
Absolutely not! Instead we uphold the law" (Romans 3:21).
You know why?
Its because without Christ the law can't be fulfilled. So if we
put faith in the finished work of Christ, we establish the law.
Therefore as a result of being became born again, we have
been made right with God.
Our spirit was born holy, perfect and righteous according to
Ephe 3:24.
We have received the law of Christ into our nature
It is love! The laws have been consummated in "love".
Now we are expected to obey and keep the law of love!
We are to express and show forth Gods love to the world.
We should bring forth good works MOTIVATED by the love
of God.
We live a holy life because we are holy. We live righteous
because we are righteous. Its now in our nature to live holy
and righteous by living in LOVE.
Whatever effort or work we make should not be because we
want to be righteous before God.
It should be a labour of love.
I pray this truth becomes revealed to your precious souls.
